Architectural Staff I

Daniel Green, originally from Corydon, IN, spent 6 years in Columbus, IN before joining DKN Architects in 2024. In 2015 Daniel earned his undergraduate degree in Interior Design from Indiana University in Bloomington, and in 2021 he earned his Master of Architecture. Daniel holds LEED Green Associate accreditation and a Revit Certified Professional Certification. Daniel specializes in retail and residential and has experience in historic preservation projects. His experience with Revit software and his interest in Building Information Modeling and architectural visualization makes him a great asset for DKN. His career goals include working through the ARE to become a licensed architect and continuing to develop his software skills.

Daniel is a co-founder of a small architectural cooperative (Design Anarchy Cooperative) which uses traditional earthen materials to construct houses and ADUs. Daniel says, “it has been a fun and challenging experience working with cost effective traditional building materials with the goal of making more affordable and environmentally friendly housing.” In his spare time, Daniel likes to travel, having visited Mexico, Italy, Slovakia, France, and the DRC (Congo). He also likes gaming, skating, movies, and music.

Answer: Some kind of nocturnal animal. I’m ‘learning’ to be a morning person though.

Question: If I won the lottery tomorrow, I’d ____________.
Answer: Design and build my own home and sleep in a lot more. And of course, keep working here..

Question: The best piece of advice I’ve ever been given is ____________.
Answer: My grandfather always used to say ‘If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again.’

Question: If I could invent a holiday, it would definitely involve ____________.
Answer: More sleep… zzz.

Question: What advice would you give a candidate who wants to join our team of superstars?
Answer: Be open, honest, and ask lots of questions!

Question: My favorite word in the English language is ____________.
Answer: Bumfuzzle.

Question: My favorite word that has no direct English translation is____________.
Answer: ‘Kitoko Makasi’ which is Lingala and generally means something is beautiful or good looking.

Question What’s the most inspiring part of your job?
Answer: Making ideas real and sharing them with others.

Question: If I were a superhero, my superpower would be ____________.
Answer: My first thought is I’d be a mind reader, but that sounds like a lot of responsibility. Maybe just the ability to fly would be good.

Question: When I was 5, I was pretty sure I’d be a ____________ when I grew up.
Answer: An architect, but 5 year old me would have said ‘Lego Builder’ – same thing really.

Question: If you were a pasta shape, what shape would you be and why?Answer: Probably a rotini since I eat so much of it.
